The EPRC is located 150 km southwest of Hanoi inside Cuc Phuong National Park. Established in 1993, the center is a non-profit rescue center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, breeding, research, and conservation of confiscated endangered primates. In addition the EPRC also works towards protection of primate habitats, in particular for re introduction. Over its 25 years of operation the EPRC has become a well-known primate conservation institution with an internationally high reputation.
Zoo Leipzig (Germany) has given support to the project from the beginning and took over full management responsibility in 2013. The EPRC currently holds 170 individuals of 15 primate species and employs local staff of 28 keepers. Foreign volunteers and staff of Zoo Leipzig also support the work force from time to time.
Zoo Leipzig is currently looking to find a new permanent director. This is a challenging position in a demanding environment suitable for a highly dedicated and motivated individual.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Serve as country representative of Zoo Leipzig in collaboration with the Vietnamese authorities (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cuc Phuong National Park, PACCOM, etc).
2. Managing the annual budget and providing accurate financial reports two times per year 3. Developing and implementing all EPRC activities in line with the Project Management Plan
4. Provide guidance and support to Vietnamese staff in undertaking all daily tasks and developing staff capacity
5. Preparation of project proposals/reports, as well as other administrative tasks as required.
6. Co-ordinate and maintain co-operation with other conservation projects, NGOs and institutions in Vietnam
7. Obtaining third party funding for EPRC operations in cooperation with Zoo Leipzig
1. Education as biologist or veterinarian (or comparable fields).
2. Management experience in comparable projects in Vietnam / Asia.
3. Experience in animal husbandry (preferably knowledge of primates).
4. Good command of English (spoken and written), knowledge of Vietnamese is a huge benefit.
5. Excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to multi-task.
6. Good practical skills and computer literacy.
7. Full clean driving licence.
8. Physically fit and able to work in a hot and humid climate.
9. Ability to live under simple conditions in a rural area.
The position requires a minimum commitment of two years (including a probation period of six months). Accommodation on site at the EPRC is provided and suitable for a family.
A salary adequate to the responsibility of the position will be provided. Preference will be given to candidates indicating that they are prepared to stay for longer periods. The contract will be offered on a `contract for freelance work` basis, not as permanent staff of Zoo Leipzig. Therefore, health or social insurance contributions will not be covered. A site visit prior signing the contract would be highly recommended.

Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) is a tropical wildlife rescue center located near Puerto Viejo, in the beautiful south caribbean side of Costa Rica. We take care of an average of 600-700 injured wild animals a year, mainly due to electrocutions, dog bites, car accidents, confiscations, orphans, etc. We work with all kind of central american animals (Primates, xenarthrans, procionids, birds, reptiles, etc). We focus our philosophy on the release of all the animals whenever is possible (over 250 releases a year), but also we have some permanent non releasable animals and an education collection of venomous snakes. Animal Rescue, Rehabilitation & Release Center in Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica
JRC is recruiting a professional wildlife caretaker with professional zookeeping experience to join our team with specific attention on handling venomous snakes and preferably experienced with general capture and handling of wildlife in order to help with and perform animals rescues. The successful candidate will take care of the educational snake collection, perform some of the snake and other animal rescues and translocations, and help coordinate the tasks of the rest of rescue center as well as any other task needed.
We are a busy rescue center with staff and volunteers from all around the world. We look for an eager to learn, passionate person who will share our philosophy of rescuing and releasing wildlife and will use his/her professional experience not only handling and taking care of animals but joining and teaching our team and showing leadership, passion and team work.
This full-time position provides competitive salary commensurate with experience and adequate to the country we live in. We are next to the beach in one of the most beautiful places in the world, a place worth living and a job worth working, but we are also a little bit isolated and surrounded by jungle. Candidate must be able to adjust to these environmental conditions.
